A Self Catering Holiday Cottage With Your Horse

Isn't it about time your horse or pony had a holiday?Grazing paddock

While you stay in one of our luxury cottages your horse (or pony) will have on-site purpose built stabling and excellent grazing with individual paddocks divided with mains electric tape fencing. There is ample off road parking for your trailer or lorry.

All the horses who have holidayed with us have settled in very quickly and have been relaxed during their stay. Perhaps it is the calming influence of our resident Dales x Friesian driving mare Jasmine.

There are scenic off-road tracks and quiet country lanes for you to explore. Simple guides and maps are provided.

We have passes allowing you to ride in the beautiful grounds of Lanydrock House and Forestry Commission Cardinham Woods allow free access to horse and riders.  It is quite feasible to hack from here, or you can park your box/trailer in the carpark but must pay the going rate for each space you use. The tracks pass through some beautiful scenery best enjoyed early morning or at off peak times of year.

A short box ride away, or a longish hack is Par Beach* - great for safe fun in the sea

The popular Camel Trail is now open to horses - you can ride from Bodmin to Padstow along a scenic disused railway track, or the rugged beauty of Bodmin Moor is close by, as well as several good pay-as-you-go cross country courses.

Our daughter Becky is head girl at a nearby equestrian facility which has a high quality eventing yard. If you need some training for you and your horse in any of the disciplines, she can give tuition here at Chark Farm or at her workplace nearby where they have good facilities. The owner Trilby Crewes is currently offering good value for money training sessions on week day mornings. For details ring Trilby on 07889 299140 or Becky on 07943155830. Becky and Trilby are currently competing at 2* BE events.

Comfortable stablesAfter your riding activity your horse will be safe and happy either stabled or in the grazing fields, while you pamper yourself. There are a good variety of places to eat and takeaways, or you can cater for yourself in the comprehensively equipped cottage kitchen. You can then either relax in the peaceful surroundings at Chark Farm, or visit one of the many local attractions.

Unlike many other equestrian establishments we don't charge a fortune for your horse accommodation. For only £20 per week for each animal, you get use of a large stable, grazing to your requirements, hay and straw.

There is a corn merchant within 1 mile where you can pick up any extra feeds needed, or you can pre order supplies to be here ready for your arrival.
