A June Jaunt (e-Bikes of course)
We made some time today to take advantage of the glorious weather We loaded the bikes on the back of the car and drove through St Austell and on to the Mevagissey Road. We used the free parking on the Pentewan Trail at London Apprentice, and rode off down the trail, funnily enough to Pentewan. From there we carried on using quiet lanes into Mevagissey and Portmellon, then on to Gorran Haven, past the NT carpark for Vault Beach (this is a lovely beach that was used in the film About Time, but you do need to walk down to it and it is not passable with bikes. The top photo is of the road from Vault beach to Hemmick, fantastic unspoilt coastal views.
From there we dropped down the very steep hill to Hemmick beach. The NT carpark is someway up the hill, and there is no parking at the beach so it is ideal for e-bikers. We took the bikes on the beach with us. It was hot! And so pretty. We spent a few happy hours there, only paddled in the sea, but explored some of the beach with its interesting rock formations and mini coves. Then cycled back via Heligan Gardens and down the excellent off road tarmac track back down to our parking space.
That June date (16th to 23rd) is still available if anyone would like a week or short break before it gets busy. Last chance until November...
