Spring at Last! Grab a rare short break in May or July

General news and short break information

It seems a very long time since last summer. We had an "adventure" in November, taking our e-bikes to France for a month. We crossed the channel just before that awful storm, and quickly went south from Roscoff to find the better weather, staying in the Loire Valley, the Rhone-Seine Valley, Provence and then down close to the Mediterranean in the SW - even managing a couple of beach days. It was lovely but I went and spoiled it somewhat by falling off my bike in Avignon, and injuring my knee. I was a cripple for the rest of the trip. Turns out it was a soft tissue injury but it caused an arthritis flare up that took 4 months to settle down. Ouch! We found France quite difficult  for eating out with my Coeliac disease, but I enjoyed cooking the good quality produce available.

We haven't enjoyed the long wet winter, we did manage to get a week in the Cotswolds with our eldest Son in February, that was lovely, probably a highlight was watching A Midsummernight's Dream at the RSC in Stratford on Avon.

It's lovely to have the Spring weather at last. It has been kind to our Easter guests. Bookings are coming in steadily now. It will be catch up time now for all those jobs that just have not been possible in the extreme wet.

We have some immediate availability from Monday until 26th April, and then a couple of rare short breaks, namely 3 nights from Tuesday 14th May and 3 nights from Friday 19th July both only £375. Last short break opportunity until later in October.

We have recently reconfigured the second bedroom. It now has a kingsize bed and a single bed. The kingsize bed can be split into two small singles if three people need to sleep separately. This new arrangement should save us having to haul in the extra bed and mattress when needed, which takes considerable time, and we are not as strong as when we were younger and fitter! I do concede it might cause some fights between two siblings over who has the big bed! I think I can live with that though.

Milo was ecstatic just after the photo above was taken. His "Mum" arrived home from a few days away, he was a good boy for "Grandma" but I'm definitely not his number one favourite person!
